Tik Tok : the new famous platform during the confinement

In those difficult times, where we are all contained at home, we are obviously attracted by social media. Indeed, social media still allow us to keep contact with friends, family, and also it keeps us entertained in those sometimes boring moments.

But, nobody thought that the utilisation of those platforms would increase that way. With the confinement, the use of social media has increased by 61%. That is the biggest increase of utilisation those platforms have known in a long time.

Also, the internet traffic has increased by 70%. The obvious reason is that almost the whole world is contained at home.

And the platform with the biggest increase is WhatsApp, the platform has registered an increase of 40% of his utilisation. With 2 billion users, the platform is the second biggest platform right behind Facebook, which is losing users with the time.

This containment has also been beneficial to new platforms trying to make their way into our smartphones.

That is the case, especially for Tik Tok : the Chinese platform, which was previously used by young people, is now becoming famous with adults.

The platform has gained 65 million of users in March, and several celebrities such has Jenifer Lopez or Mariah Carey are already conquered by this platform.

According to SensorTower, the platform counted 800 millions users in January, and now they have achieved the 1 billion users bearing.

Therefore, we see that this social distancing we are going through is really beneficial to social platforms. It shows that people can’t stop socializing, even contained at home.
