As we were telling you in one of our articles, our society is becoming more and more addicted to dating platforms.

Today we are analyzing another Black Mirror’s episode called Hang the DJ.

Hang The DJ shows the meeting of Frank and Amy, they meet thanks to a service called « The System ». The service consists in finding you someone adapted to you, but, « The System » defines a relationship time that cannot be change, while the two person have their first date. « The System » also offers a house for the couple for the defined time of their relationship.

Frank and Amy have a relationship time of twelve hours, they thought that was too short, but this is how « The System » works. Frank and Amy have separately several different bad relations, until they meet again in a new date. This time they have a long and good relationship. But unfortunately, at one point, they break up and part their way.

Later in the episode, they meet up once again, and starts to think that maybe their world is a simulation, they decide to climb the walls of their city and to escape.

Suddenly, their world falls apart and they were indeed in a simulation.

They were part of 1 of the 1000 simulations running for their profiles, they learn that in 998 of those simulations they escape together. After that, they see the two of them in real life meeting in a bar smiling at each other.

This episode shows us that nowadays, dating platforms are so precise and efficient, that they can maybe become our new normal way of dating. Maybe in the future, services like « The System » will be normal.

However, we have to be careful with the people we are meeting with those platforms, sometimes it can be dangerous.
